Consider These Cities for Your Next Self-Care Reset Trip
- by Jesse Clark
Self-care “reset” trips have been a thing for many years, but they have exploded in popularity recently. Now, companies are allowing employees to go on wellness getaways, some of them through paid time off (PTO).
Taking a trip to focus on no one but yourself comes with many benefits. Not only do you not have to worry about working with other people’s schedules and desires, but you also have the opportunity to refresh your mental well-being and return a better version of yourself.
Taking a reset trip is an excellent option if you’re ready for a break. Wild Bum has shared some of our favorite cities for the occasion!
San Diego, CA
San Diego provides so many options for people traveling alone or seeking self-care. You can spend time in the Gaslamp Quarter for nightlife. You can go shopping or visit sea lions in La Jolla. Or, you can head to Pacific Beach for surfing and sunbathing.
San Diego is also home to Comic-Con International, America’s largest convention for comics and pop culture. There are also many gorgeous state parks in and around San Diego and big attractions like the Sand Diego Zoo and Balboa Park. And you will have more than enough resorts and spas to choose from for your accommodations.
Asheville, NC
As one of the artsiest cities on the east coast, Asheville is located in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. It is perhaps most known for being home to the Biltmore Estate, an 8,000-acre property developed by Geoge Vanderbilt.
But the Biltmore Estate scratches the surface of what Asheville has to offer for your self-care reset trip. You can choose from more than 30 art galleries and many fishing, biking, kayaking, and hiking opportunities. Asheville is also a blossoming culinary scene and plenty of luxurious hotels. If you live on the east coast, consider taking a breathtaking drive to Asheville; however, the regional airport receives flights from most major airlines.
New York, NY
New York City is perhaps one of the most accessible destinations to reach and explore in the U.S. No matter your interests, you will have no trouble finding engaging and relaxing activities to enjoy in the Big Apple.
For the ultimate tourist experience, head to Time Square and see for yourself the place that has appeared in so many films and TV shows. If you want to escape the crowds, go to Brooklyn, West Village, the Meatpacking District, and other quieter areas.
You cannot take a trip to New York without trying a slice of New York-style pizza at a local establishment. You should also try a hot dog or falafel from a street vendor! It’s easy to find a quaint apartment through vacation rental companies, or you can opt for historic hotels like the Williamsburg Hotel or the Walker Hotel Greenwich Village.
Furthermore, you can sweeten the deal when you take in a Yankees game. You can easily find discounted tickets for Yankee’s Stadium to see America’s baseball team. And when you use a virtual seating chart, you can see a 360-degree in-seat view from each seat before you buy your tickets.
Beaver Creek, CO
If you are looking for a self-care getaway in a winter wonderland, you can’t beat Beaver Creek. The stunningly charming village in the Rocky Mountains is one of the coziest destinations for relaxing that you will find, and you will also be near plenty of skiing and snowboarding opportunities.
But Beaver Creek is also an excellent place to go during summer. Along with enjoying the scenery of the mountains, you can partake in top-notch mountain biking, hiking, or horseback riding on one of several trails.
Sometimes, you just need to get away by yourself. If your mind, body, and spirit tell you that you need a moment to recharge, consider going to one of the destinations described above. You will come back rested and a better version of yourself!
