Cuba feels like a country that is stuck in the 1950s due to the building designs (there is even a mini version of the Capitol Building), the historic European architecture that predates the 1930s, the American classic cars, the weird assumption that all tourists only come to Cuba to follow Ernest Hemingway, and of course we cannot forget the communism. If you dig deeper, you will find people with a strong survivalist spirit and a vibrating, contagious energy that will make you forget that you almost got scammed 10 minutes before. Havana is like stepping back in time to the pre-1950’s era, but dotted with more updated features to keep you on your toes.

While planning a trip I just happened to have the song "Havana" by Camila Cabello come on the radio. That had me look into what a trip to Havana would be like and I found out that it was cheaper to fly from Vancouver, BC to Havana, Cuba; spend a weekend in Havana; and then fly from Havana, Cuba to Miami, Florida then it was just to fly from Vancouver, BC to Miami, Florida. I am not one to turn away from an adventure so I booked our tickets and then started planning this new leg of our trip!
