First Hand Experience Narrows The Hunt
Sure I am not a fan of wine but that does not stop me from visiting all the wineries over my 30+ years of travel to Kelowna.
If you do not drink, this is not your guide
This drink is very alcohol focused, while it can help with basic needs in Kelowna it is not the main focus
Guide Summary
Only a 4 hour drive or 45min flight from Vancouver, BC this former summer resort town with a massive agricultural footprint is making a name for itself in both the wine and craft beer scene. Whether you are a connoisseur or you just like to drink, there is something for you and new locations are opening yearly; over the last 40 years an average of 2 wineries per year open and the breweries are starting to match that pace! If you think of Napa when you think of California, craft beer when you think of Portland, Niagara-On-The-Lake when you think of Ontario then you need to check out Kelowna.
In this guide I cover the basic need to know info in Kelowna and then I cover wineries in Kelowna and in the surrounding area as there are soooo many great locations plus a variety of grapes depending on which town you visit - from Baco Noir to Merlot, Meitage to Zweigelt, Chardonnay to Optima, Pinot Gris to Viognier, Rose, Proseco, Icewine, and many more in between!
As I am not a wine drinker (shocking I know) I have also included cideries, breweries, (plus 2 new ones coming in 2022!), and distilleries in the area. I touch on the BC Ale Trail and also activities that you can do in area from off leash dog parks to indoor family activities, Agri-tourism locations, our favorite restaurants, and more.
If you are headed to Kelowna, the area (West Kelowna, West Bank, Peachland, Lake Country, Penticton, Summerland), or may pop over then you NEED this guide.
