About the location
Panama City, the capital of Panama, is the most modern-looking capital in Central America, framed by the Pacific Ocean and man-made Panama Canal. Panama City is one of Latin America’s hottest destinations year-round.
It is easily accessible. Panama is considered the bridge of the Americas and is only a 2.5 hour flight away from Miami, and 5 hours from New York City.
The Casco Viejo (also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe) is Panama City’s old quarter. Pastel Colonial homes adorned with balconies bursting with flowers and plants line its narrow pedestrian-friendly streets, making the district perfectly walkable.
Contrasting the archways and stucco walls of the historic quarter are the contemporary buildings that rise from the city’s business district.
You can't leave Panama without seeing one of the most significant accomplishments in Panama's history - The Panama Canal.
While some people just decide to visit Panama City for just a day or skip it all together before heading to one of the beach towns, it really is worth exploring.
I have been multiple times to Panama and I have included my personal experiences in a five-day stay itinerary in Panama City with a two day trip to the San Blas Islands.
