This guide will bring you from Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, around the Golden Circle with highlights and hidden gems, through incredible scenery and sites along the southern coast and Vik, and all the way out to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon with many tips for stops and sites along the drive. We spent months researching many online sources and first-hand tips from other recent travelers to curate the perfect trip around the entire southern region of Iceland with kids. We traveled with our two young kids, and another couple with their young kid, but the guide will cover sites and activities for both families or singles/couples.

We feature a variety of activities for both families with young kids or singles or couples, including river rafting, horseback riding, many hikes, and boat tours. There are also many of types of sites to see from city museums to many amazing natural landscapes and sites in Iceland with tons of waterfalls, beaches, hikes, canyons, and more highlighted in the guide. We are so excited to share some of the off-the-beaten-path destinations to make sure you don’t miss some of the best sites.

Included in the guide are places to stay and the best booking site, great restaurants at reasonable prices and how to save on food costs, and a packing list which includes ideas to help save you money while in Iceland. We are focused on moderate to budget travel in this otherwise expensive destination.
