Travel has given me the privilege to challenge my beliefs and the things I thought I knew. It’s a very humbling experience once you realize there is so much more to (un)learn than you could ever imagine. Being away from friends and family for long periods of time has given me the confidence to seek new experiences and enjoy my life and realize it’s okay to let go. In the end, your own desires are what matters most and travel can really help you seek what you want most in life.

I think traveling has helped me to pause and be more grateful.  There have been so many times on vacation where I have stopped and thought “I am seriously so lucky to be experiencing this.”

It makes me thankful for quality time with family, for having family that will help out with the kids if we are traveling without them, for having the financial means to travel, for being healthy enough to travel, for a husband that will put up with my constant need to plan our next getaway.  Sometimes the everyday grind can make it challenging to stop and reflect on all our blessings, but when you step away from it, you can really appreciate how lucky you are 🙂

Traveling has not only slowed me down from the hyper non-stop life I was living but also though slowing down I was able to see other cultures and way of life, you pause and reflect.
And when you pause, gratitude comes in, you are thankful for so many things you have taken for granted, your health, your loved ones.
It has literally changed my life!

Travel, particularly living abroad, has made me the person I am today. My independence, confidence and quick ability to adapt to any situation (living with a host family that spoke French and Portuguese while I only knew Italian and English in a country that speaks a language combining French and German will do that to you) have been strengthened through my adventures around the globe.

Travel is a HUGE part of my life. It is my happy place, my adventure, my relaxation, my family, my friends, my education and my zen all at once. Traveling gives me the opportunity to step away from my everyday life and view the world from another perspective. It also invigorates me in so many ways. I always look forward to my travels and my plan is to travel the world.

Travel has opened my eyes to what being a world citizen means. It’s brought me so much gratitude for the opportunities I am lucky enough to have and the things I get to do on a daily basis. Travel has not only brought me closer to my travel companions, but led me to meet the most incredible people, some of which are now life long friends.

See how travel transforms your own life, for it’s “not the number of breaths you take, but the moments that take your breath away that matter” – Hitch
