Why Moms Need a Vacation

Momcation

Listen up moms. You need a vacay. Ok. I know it’s not an easy thing to do. You might be stressed about the logistics, how your kids will get to school, activities and so on. But, guess what?! IT WILL ALL WORK OUT. And, when you return, you will come home a better mom. For we all know it’s not the quantity, but the quality that matters. Let me explain the ways why moms need a vacation:

Momcations prevent burnout

You heard that right. Even moms can experience burnout. Listen to these psychologists when they say that mom-burnout can lead to chronic stress, depression, anxiety and more. And, no other full-time job would require you to work 365 days a year!

Give yourself a break. Have some fun! It’s life-changing. You will come back a better mom.

Why Moms Need a Vacation

Moms need a vacation so they can be reminded of how much they are appreciated

Honestly, I never feel more loved than when I am traveling without my kids. Ha! The phone calls and texts I receive…it’s so heart-warming. Kids need a break from us too! Don’t underestimate the deeper appreciation that our kids can feel in our absence. They can be savvy little creatures. A few days away can be all it takes to remind them of how much we do and how much they actually need & appreciate us!

Why Moms Need a Vacation

Momcations remind us of who we are without being “mom”

I lead trips for women through my other biz, Wildhive, and one of my most favorite parts of our experience is how we are given this gift of time away to just “be”. Be without all of our titles – mom, sister, daughter, wife…whatever it is, the titles we identify ourselves as at home. While beautiful, we can lose ourselves. There is guilt. When we getaway, be it in a safe, loving group or solo traveling, we can just…be. It’s hard to find the words to describe it. But, I know it makes me a better mom. I feel empowered. I feel myself. I feel celebrated. I feel free. And, mostly – I get excited to return home!

There’s a travel trend called ‘microcations’, read about it here. It doesn’t matter how long you can get away – go. Just go.
